Community Engagement

Using our diverse cultural experiences and competencies, we strive to create an inclusive approach to decision-making in city planning and community development for equity-denied groups.

Our approach is rooted in the intersection of art, language, scholarly research, and participatory tools.  We are interested in using methods such as:

  • Art-based community engagement

  • Community-led placemaking

  • Intergenerational placemaking

  • Digital engagement

  • Transformative facilitation

Empowering communities in Surrey -- our members are invovled in local grassroots community groups and support diverse demographics from youth to seniors.
As one of our first projects, the City in Colour Cooperative launched #2020in3words, a photo submission contest as a community reflection piece.
Our members have experience facilitating workshops on topics such as community-engagement and creative place-making.
